MexbearpigNov 25, 06:40 PMYeah, I know, They are very expensive sunglasses that I don't feel comfortable just "tossing into a gym bag or suitcase."

To be honest, I thought it was very cool. I have always loved the look of those cases but I always had the impression that they were expensive but after a look they aren't too much. Maybe I'll buy one but I'd have to put something that is expensive that is that small. And most of my things are large.

toddybodyApr 19, 12:24 PMI can't wait for a white 27" model with an additional rear facing camera to shoot HD video. 3G would be cool too.

Ha ha ha ha! For like 1/2 second I was like "wha wha?". LOL

+1

barmannMay 2, 08:59 PMHaha so many mad fanboys. " APL Y U RUIN MY OSX"

I think its a neat trinket, deleting apps this way, but nothing major worth over analyzing.

I was under the impression an Apple fanboy is someone who applauds whatever move Apple makes to lead us into a brighter future .

Besides, the new feature doesn't delete apps, only applets, if that . ;)

If anybody's seen that Date Night movie with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell, Mark Wahlberg uses custom touch screen Macs (well you can tell it's iMacs and ACDs but they made it look like a typical Spy style touch screen) in the movie and it looks a lot like that. If that's what Apple releases, I would be blown away.

UmbongoMar 25, 11:40 AMThe PSU on the Mac Pro is rated for 980 W of power, but for simplicity sake let's say 1 kW. Now, factor in the Super drive, Ethernet, Airport, at least 1 HDD and peripheral docks/cards you are looking at ~100 W. Take into account a 20 W per 1GB of memory (assume 6GB) and you've got ~120 W more. So far ~ 220 W more.

DDR3 DIMMs don't consume anything like 20W each. More like 20W for the whole 6 DIMMs you are talking about.

The 6970 uses around 190W at peak load from the reviews I've seen. People already have working 6970s, GTX 480s and GTX 580s on all models of Mac Pros - under windows, but that makes no difference. The power supply is enough to run these cards.

Anyway they still don't work in OS X on the Mac Pro, despite all these news stories: http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,804.0.html

April DancerAug 17, 04:29 AMi dont really think the ipod needs to be updated.

its great the way it is, and it hasnt even been a year since it was released!

why are you all on this idea of an ipod update?

the ipod isnt a computer that needs a new processor and faster components.

mp3 files just play.

Because they introduced video playback capability, that's why. I travel and this iPod has meant that I don't have to drag around countless dvds to while away hotel room evenings. I love it, but ultimately, the screen is ever so slightly too small (not by much, I'm not asking plasma screen here!) and I need more storage. I know I could go and buy an Archos or some such other brand but I really don't want to do that, and I'm very sure that Apple don't want me to either.

If it was still purely an mp3 player I would totally agree with you. Besides, 10 months+ with no update is a long time in the life cycle of an iPod. Only going by previous form. :)

axu539Mar 31, 10:21 PMGoogle Maps looks fine, so do dragging images. There is something strange I noticed trying to refresh a page. The best is to just post the pictures to show the bug.

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/5367/safaribug1.png
The first is the popover that slide into view when I tried to refresh the page.

http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/1071/safaribug2.png
The second is the address bar glitching once the popover is dismissed.

It seems that once the address bar starts glitching, spaces starts acting up too.

AidenShawAug 29, 09:26 AMwheres my media edition mac mini...

seriously i would be stoked if they released an ULV Mac Mini with a 100GB HDD for all your audio and video needs. Ability to plug a 30" ACD would be nice, as 23" isn't that big for a TV. Built-in eyeTV equivalent, better remote... i want one!
Wait for the Apple HTPC - the upcoming Conroe mini-tower/pizza-box.

In the meantime, here's a Conroe HTPC that's now available:

PBFApr 2, 05:32 PMOn a happier note -- I don't think I've seen this mentioned yet -- DP 2 seems to be taking about 1.5gb less space.
You sure? The DP2 installer is 3.7GB vs. 3.35GB of DP1.

dalvin200Oct 23, 08:55 AMHi folks!

I've read Macrumors every day for years, so I figure I may as well start participating :)

I work for an ad agency, and last Friday, we took our Nov'06 PowerBook into the local Apple dealer to trade it in for a MBP.

tablo13Sep 24, 05:22 PMSomething I noticed about my Grip Vue today. The back seems to be collecting quite a bit of germs (dirt, etc.). For those of you who use a Mighty Mouse, think about how that collects dirt, but on a case.

Does it affect the iPod touch itself?

dguisingerAug 7, 03:35 AMHave you tried rubyonrails? I've done some webservices for testing, and this is very slick.
Just give it a testdrive (www.rubyonrails.com)

Not really what I'm looking for, I'm trying to connect a Cocoa-app to a web service with minimal work; Rubyonrails looks like its primarily for developing web applications. But thanks anyways.

macidiotJul 21, 07:07 PMYour summation is a leap of faith, check your market history what I said has STRONG historical backing yours does NOT.

The USA President has a HUGE effect day to day ON THE WORLD scene and that effects the value of the dollar and thus everything else especially foreign investment which is THE BIGGEST money flow.

And Jimmy Carter is the BEST EXAMPLE of a disaster of foreign confidence.

I YOU believe THIS then you believe everything else he says and you are not paying any attention to WHAT HE DOES

Duuu !!

Without any doubt the President can and does, by WHO he appoints to the position of Fed Chairman.

Presidents that have a clue also have HUGE control over the money supply by how they fine tune and enforce immigration law, the demographics of entrepreneurialism is hugely effected in a relatively short time by emigration from europe since the average age of those emigrants is around 35.

The Feds money supply adjustments are diluted by this immigration which has a BIG effect on economic growth and the job market, although I don't expect you to understand this.

 I AM NOT SURPRISED !!!

You just like to argue !

Your dreaming. The only thing a president can directly do to a market is provide a psychological boost, like when Reagan took office. The president can pass laws that make things favorable for the economy and stock market. However, this takes years to see the effects. And in case you don't know, the president can NOT pass laws by himself.

Again, since you clearly have no idea about government or economics, the market did well during the 80's because the overall economy was doing well. Which was normal, considering the country was in recession during the Carter administration. Oh, and the economy did poorly during the BUsh administration. Then did well during Clinton. It's called the business cycle. Which you obviously have no idea what that is. If you did, you would understand what the Fed does.

WTF does foreign confidence have to due with domestic economy? Carter was a failure economically because he was ineffective. And this was due to Congress. And AGAIN, there is something called the business cycle. You should study your history. The value of the dollar has little effect on day to day matters. Additionally, the foreign investment you speak of is important to debt, in the form of bonds and t-bills. It has far less effect on the stock market. You should study how world markets work.

While the president does appoint reserve board members, again your completely wrong. When Bush came into office, Greenspan was Chairman. So obviously, Bush did not appoint him. In fact, Ronald Reagan appointed him. Additionally, the governers serve for a time long enough to effectively keep them independent (14 years). So tell me, how does the President instruct the Fed to adjust the money supply? Oh that's right, he can't.

Basically, what you are saying is that the President also completely controls the Supreme court since the president also nominates justices? Whatever.

Immigration from Europe? What century are you living in? You think that effects the US economy? Puh-lease. Europe is in decline. Economically, the US pays attention to China and the far east. Not Europe. The money supply is diluted by immigration? WTF. And the President controls the money supply through immigration law? Those statements are absurd. In fact, they have to be some of the dumbest things I've heard in a long time.

I am guessing your living in Europe. Which would explain your euro-centric, myopic, and ill-informed opinions about how the US government and economy works.

rk1991Nov 28, 12:08 PMJust got back from Mexico and during my time there had a run in with the local police. This is common as hire cars have different colour number plates so the police can easily pick you out of a crowd. Apparently we were 'speeding'. It's all fun and games though. I got the fine down from about $400 US to 1000 pesos. We were warned this would happen when we arrived and should just look at it as an extra 'toll'. I could have probably got it down lower but it was hot and we had a long way to go still.

At the end of the negotiation you get a form to sign with how much you paid and then you have to sign your name. The document is cleary made in something like Word and it's in no way official....I signed it Ben T Copper! :p

Corruption FTW!

gnagyJun 23, 01:54 AMImagine you lived in the 1500s and someone showed you two computers. If you had zero prior computer experience, would you pick a touch based computer... or would you pick one where you move some arrow shaped icon with a 2nd device called the mouse.

We're very used to using a mouse, but it's definitely not the most natural way to interact with a computer. It's not easy either. I've seen old people that never could figure out how to double click without moving the cursor 50 pixels from where they wanted to click.

I thought its about time I post my home setup.

Just bought the 27" Cinema Display, its connected to my 13"MBP running in clamshell, sitting on the shelf on a cooling pad.

Apple bluetooth keyboard, Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse. Have 2 Apple battery chargers(not pictured) to power those 3.

1TB Seagate GoFlex with firewire 800 upgrade kit for backups using Carbon Copy Cloner sitting behind the lamp.

Creative Xmod that I use with my Bose OE headphones(headphones not pictured).

Also not pictured is my table at the other end of that wall with a Brother laser printer and Crosley radio, both hooked up to an Airport Express. And in a cabinet in another room I have an Airport Extreme with 2 Seagate 1TB drives for Time Machine and old file storage.
