They've probably got a higher "minimum acceptable" standard for GPU performance than any other manufacturer. The one thing they don't do is chase the bleeding edge super-high-end gaming GPUs.

Also: games don't HAVE to render at native display resolutions. And as resolution gets higher, the artifacts from not being at the native level become much less visible.

Apple's problem is that they put "Looks" before performance.

They crippled their chances of ever becoming a serious competitor to the PC for games due to deciding to use giant laptops on a stand which meant they could not cool any decent graphics cards, handing the gaming crown to the PC for years on a plate.

As for the future who knows.

The only preference I still have for imperial is food based. Can i have 500 grams of sliced ham? It just sounds wrong.

Also they teach both systems in grade school etc at least when I was in school.

Actually it is quite easy to order half a kilo of cheese, the question is if you wanted it grated, sliced or by the chunk, they've are pretty good at it.

You are mocking the wrong companies. Quad Core Android phones? Tell us more about it. There are dual core phones and guess what - Apple will follow suit (with usual delay). Same goes with the cameras. Apple is lagging there too. Android phones and tablets get good stuff first (including cameras, and no, there are no Android phones with 7 cameras).

While Android phones may not be that different from each other (although physical keyboard, screen size, LTE etc. are not so small differentiators) it's still much better than iPhone situation: one model (and then a white one a year later).

korukiApr 7, 05:39 PMI think the thing to note here is that, yes Apple has the power and money to hold down the main supply of the worlds touchscreen panels but we shouldn't go and believe they are doing it JUST to be anti-competative, they are hardly getting enough for themselves. Its not their fault everyone wants an iPad (blame the competition lol) , so at least the panels are getting used :)

Fortunately, you don't have to have Angry Birds installed before you install Angry Birds, or else you'd never get Angry Birds installed.

Unless the downloaded Lion allows you to make a physical install disc (or USB drive), then you'll have to install OS X before you can install OS X.

A leader will be designated by the team at the beginning of the game (and at the time of a split) who will report to the Game Masters the desired actions. The rules state that actions will be taken with a vote, but the Game Masters will not keep track, they will trust the designated leader. If drama ensues, this is a desired possible result. Honesty is obviously highly desired.

Further, Cloud Drive clearly includes automatic synchronization from and to your computer and other devices.

No, did you even read any of the article or the page on Amazon? Dropbox still sounds much better (local and cloud copies, with automatic integration and synchronization with the local file system), but besides their clouded-ness, the only thing they seem to have in common is that Dropbox uses Amazon S3 for storage. However, I think Cloud Drive has a lot of potential, especially for music, and if they ever offer a native client for better OS integration (like Dropbox), I think it might take off.

If Time Machine backs up everything, then it backs up whatever problems you had that resulted in your need for restore.

Time Machine has limited real use, and its basically limited to accidentally deleting things.

Indeed, which is why I also do a Carbon Copy Clone once in a while. Most people, for some reason, just use Time Machine. Maybe they never have encountered a catastrophic disk failure. Seems like a big risk to take.

andiwm2003Mar 29, 08:58 AMi can see the value of having a backup on the cloud. but if you really listen to a lot of music through the cloud your 2GB data plan is used up in no time. as well as your battery on your phone. assuming you have good reception.

maybe I'm oldfashioned but since it's no problem to buy a 16GB iPhone or an Android phone with SD card you can have most of your music with you anyway.

Not gonna happen. Just isn't.

I can't even see them switching to ARM for their ultra portables like the Air.

UNLESS...

Apple already a running version of OSX working on existing ARM like the secret version of Intel OSX they 'announced' at switch.

I'm more inclined to believe that Apple have a back up version of ARM compatible OSX working in their labs and this the reason for the rumour of a possible change.

But I'd put money on Intel keeping the gig.

Some of us professionals need the upgrade potential of the Mac Pro where we can upgrade our video card and other cards but we sure don't need all the raid card slots and I/O ports on the front and back.

I'd love to see them go with a smaller form factor and less slots for storage and I/O to bring the price down some while keeping the processor options the same. Memory slots...well if the new final cut is using the 16bit architecture, the more the merrier.

Allowing the processor options is the big thing to me in any version of it.



theBBSep 11, 04:17 PMUnless you have a progressive scan TV, which propbably means an HDTV, DVD is only 480i, which can be argued to be equivalent to 240p. That way Apple can easily claim their movies to be DVD quality at 320x240. In any case, they can easily offer it at 480p, but compress it more to get the same file size, but satisfy the more numerically obsessed with probably the same video quality. I'd say just download and watch it. See if it looks better or worse than your regular DVDs on a regular TV from about the same distance. No need to focus on just one number.
