sluthyJan 2, 06:35 PMDid that not just happen ...

Likely:
Speed bump to one or more Mac lines
...

Less likely:
....
Major upgrade to Mac mini (video card upgrade) or MacBook Pro
New Displays
...

Unlikely:
...
Major upgrade to any line other than mini or MBP
...

:( How long ago were the MBPs updated? Because I'm looking to buy Jan/Feb and I'm not confident that the current spec is competitive. It at least needs a HD screen.

roadblocApr 26, 04:01 PM"Amazon" is a generic term and should not be used for a store name.

So is "Apple".

Why can't anyone come up with original company names? Like Microsoft.

EvangelionJul 14, 05:33 AMThere will be more media once there are more players, and there will be more players once there is more media. Which goes first? Players, naturally. Apple and the rest of the industry will just have to begin selling the players, and then the content will follow. Very soon I'd guess. The new Blu-Ray media can be sold at premium, so I think there will be a lot of discs to buy once certain threshold of players have been installed.

Well, PS3 will have Blu-Ray in it. And if PS3 is even moderately succesfull, it would mean lots of Blu-Ray-players in the market.

BRLawyerNov 16, 04:03 AMwell, OSX whooped xp for multicore usage then

Notwithstandign such long-standing facts, there are still some MS fanboys here who think Windows is better for multicore usage (not to mention multitasking, which has been ALWAYS better in OS X)...

Zune is dead, Windows is dead...face it.

islandersJan 4, 08:28 PMUse Boot Camp and your Mac is a Windows PC, just like any other (although arguably nicer to look at ;) ). Any "conflicts" will be precisely the same conflicts that you'd get on a PC laptop.

BTW, right-clicking on an Apple notebook is now awesome! The "two-fingers on trackpad" click is great, and actually easier than having two buttons IMO.

ddrueckhammerSep 6, 06:34 PMI am with the rental bandwagon. I would pay up to $4.99 to rent a movie that deleted itself after a certain period of time from the first play. Also, I could care less about how long it takes to download because if they implemented a queue ala Netflix then the next one could just download. It should still be faster and more convenient than Netflix. I would even be happy if they used Bit torrent technology to help subsidize their bandwidth costs. Until there is a model like, this I won't give up Netflix and there is no way that I want to buy movies online unless they are under $9.99 and are at least DVD quality and burnable to a disk. It just isn't worth it without physical media. As it is, there are already tons of people who rent and burn movies with impunity so distributing content electronically might be a great way to get some money from those people because they would be able to have a DRM that limits the number of burns, as well as, watermarking to stop unauthorized distribution.

econgeekApr 21, 12:34 PMI trust Apple a lot more than Al Franken.

Remember, Al Franken voted for legislation that would require, among other privacy violations:
- All your health care information be reported to the government.
- All your health care information be kept in a centrallized location.
- the disclosure of your financial and health care information to the IRS without your notification
- all busiensses that gather any information about you via the internet (including Apple) to disclose this information to the government upon demand and without a warrant.

So, Franken can pretend like he cares about privacy, but he's already clearly on the record in thinking that you don't have any privacy when HE wants to find out things about you.

nosenSep 6, 06:14 PMBut hopefully these are a better resolution than the current TV show on Itunes. It should be at least DVD quality, If not these price model will bomb IMHO.
agreed, although I don't think I'd ever pay more than $9.99... I'd rather just buy the DVD.

nerdoApr 13, 05:46 AMEeeh?!? I say every tool helps. If I get a tool that can color shot and counter shot differently because it recognizes a face, I say groovy!

Indexing old stuff looking for faces: go for it, the need of the "pro" is whatever it is. All this pretending there is some uniform pro way of working is the most amateurish idea around. There is only the end result, how you get there doesn't matter to the viewer.

... oh damn sucked into another pointless statement hah... yeah FCP renders slow...

No professional would let the software identify their subjects. Features like this do nothing to lighten the workflow of their productions. Only amateurs would allow an algorithms to determine what gets logged as what. Regardless of how the rest of the program turn out, the facial recognition is something only amateurs will use. Professionals have a higher standard of quality, and more complex needs than that.

cmaierApr 2, 07:39 PMI'll "believe" when they fix the currently unresolved and widespread quality control issues...light bleed on virtually every unit and blemishes, dents and scratches on units straight out of the box.

Fix those issues, Apple, and then I will "believe" enough to get an iPad 2.

No light bleed, blemishes, dents, or scratches on my new 64GB AT&T or my friend's 64GB Verizon.

Otto JMay 3, 01:40 AMAs someone who's come over from the Windows world this has to be one of the few features that I think OS X is worse at. I shouldn't have to install a stand alone app (AppCleaner) to be sure that I'm removing the whole programme.

So, you're saying that windows programs don't leave files on your computer when uninstalled? Installing and uninstalling a bunch of programs don't make your windows PC slow down? I must be using the wrong programs. Not that I'm saying that Mac's are perfect, but worse than windows? I hope not (I'm not a mac user... Yet)

macgeek18Feb 18, 01:49 AMNo, I'm reclassing (from Infantry to Intelligence Analyst) here in Utah, and my Army National Guard unit is MOB'ing as soon as I'm done with this. I've been in for 6 years. I extended for an extra year to go with them again.

Good for you. Thanks for serving our country. :)
I enlisted in the US Army last week. I go in end of 2012 after I finish my degree. My job is IT Spec. Fitting isn't it. :)

quagmireMar 7, 09:57 AMBut prior to that the Mk1 was the same in both the U.S. & Europe.

Was only a young kid when that Focus was around.......

Anyway, when the current US Focus debuted back in 1999 I believe it was, it wasn't a bad car. In typical bad Ford fashion, it was left to rot on the vine. It got a heavy redesign/MCE for the 2008/9 MY I believe it was, but it was too late. The 2012 Focus is so much better. Although I prefer the Chevy Cruze.

So far this generation of world cars are going fairly well. The Buick Regal is selling in China and in the US fairly well( with the Regal being the Opel Insignia). The Cruze isn't doing too badly either. I don't know the exact number of Cruze sales in Europe, but I heard it was decent. They just sold 18,000 units in February in the US. Holden survives as it is today due to its export business. World cars can be done. They just have to be implemented correctly.
