Hummingbirds on quot;I Love Youquot;
kalisphoenixJul 20, 01:42 AMYou are probably nursing those MS shares you bought at $90, hoping for a better day. It is not coming anytime soon sorry to say. Buying is about momentum. Apple has it and MS does not. Vista already has a great deal of bad press and it has not even hit the street. eWeek and other journals are already writing about Vista security vulnerabilities. That is not a good sign. Vista features and functionality has been scaled back numerous times. That too is not a good sign.
Vista will sell more copies in its first two weeks than Leopard in its first year. As several hundred thousand years of humanity have demonstrated, rhyme and reason matters little.
Who would have imagined that the common view. amongst the informed computer community, was MS was trying desperately to draw close to even-up with Apple? About the time MS established Windows 2000, they were at the top of the computer world in just about every SW market there was.
....and they still are. The anti-Apple and anti-Linux advertising games are defense, not offense.
They finally had a very stable desktop, server platform, mail server, yellow pages, browser, office suite, SQL engine, and so on. But once they reached this pinnacle, two things happened (or at least two I want to talk about). One, they became way too greedy with their predatory licensing. It just went through the roof. If you have never purchased SW at the enterprise level, you do not understand how expensive this has become. SW can cost (at least) as much HW at the enterprise level.
No doubt, but I don't see businesses exactly fleeing in droves.
The second thing that happened at MS is best described in a quote "When Alexander looked at his empire, he wept for there was nothing more to conquer." Instead of continuing on the path of R&D, they tried to find "new worlds to conquer", secure in the knowledge they had indeed subdued all competitors who could challenge them. Sun had tried to mount a charge in the early-mid 90's. Fortunately for MS, Sun's CEO lacked the wherewithal to do more than file lawsuits. Linux suffers from the exact problems that have plagued the Unix community; they cannot unify because they have no leadership.
Sun's ailments are a lot more complicated than that, as are SGI's. Most of their problem is that their workstation prices make Apple's seem like bargain-bin deals.
Gah. The Linux community doesn't want to unify. In fact, not unifying is the core of their philosophy. The vast majority of Linux users (ie, non-n00bs) don't really give a crap about mass adoption of Linux. Many even view such a possibility with horror and disgust. The only priority is choice. It's why there are 415 distributions (none of which are compatible with each other), 9,843 window managers (none of which have remotely similar configuration options), and 3.43x10^15 terminal emulators (none of which actually emulate terminals any better or worse than any other one).
Waving the "king of the OS hill" prize in front of a bunch of Linux users/developers will only result in them staring at you like a dog that's been shown a card trick. With very few exceptions, only n00bs (and uncomprehending businessmen who think they can somehow profit) want mass adoption of Linux.

AppliedVisualOct 24, 01:33 AMNope - Santa Rosa won't arrive until March or April, and that's when the next major upgrade will be made.
Which is all the more reason to be fairly sure a C2D update is imminent. And we probably shouldn't expect too much from this update...
I'm expecting Apple to have addressed cooling issues through better heatsinks combined with better fan control software, possibly better fans too. The 160GB HD should be added as a CTO option as it's available for the Mini, but don't expect any change to the overall design or a new HD bay. Possibly faster DVD writers, but don't expect DL support for the 15" MBP or MB. Just about everything else that people keep wishing for is probably out of the question until a major overhaul takes place.
I love
Prom1Mar 1, 12:48 AMDon't quote all the pictures! haha.
I played tenor too! :)
Edited out all but one picture; hehe sorry about that.
wicked you play Sax too?! I haven't played for years but i promised to buy an Alto this year - come Hell or High water!
A small part of me has fallen asleep since I last played.
I think I love you – fans,
JackSYiJul 13, 11:03 PMI bet it will be BTO when it is introduced at WWDC.
i love you heart animation.
sammichOct 24, 05:19 AMHaven't seen this mentioned in a while...
If they do release the new MBP's tomorrow, what is the chance that Apple's skunkworks will be working for a readyboost-like feature? It'll help us guys who can't wait until March/April for Santa Rosa, stick in a CF card reader into the MBP and a 2gb+ card and presto (could work quite well with the new hard sleep feature).

Panther71Oct 29, 09:02 PMIf you want to protect the glass, I suggest you check out a leather case that has an aluminum lining, like the one from Proporta. I am confident this case will protect the glass as good as any case will. The only problem is that this case is more than the $25 max limit.

FearNo1Apr 23, 01:39 AMUsing your example, couldn't they do that with the GPS tech in most fones today simply by saving your location info in a server side database? I wouldn't put anything pass these companies and govt today.
If LTD wants an example other wise you can see companies start using these feature on the phones to track employees at all time and what they do. Or in court cases them being pulled it to use against one spouse in a mess divorce.
Spying on ones spouse is another example.
i love you heart.
PeterQVenkmanMar 25, 04:13 PMThat's bad ass!
i love you heart.
EvangelionAug 30, 02:27 AMI've got hard facts to back up my claim. Do you have any for yours? :)
Those prices might not be valid anymore. And could you mention any of the reasons why anyone would use Yonah instead of Merom, if the prices are identical (more or less)?
I Love You Dear Heart
CEAbiscuitAug 24, 09:50 PMOddly, I hope a new line just send the price of core solos plumetting in the refurb store. Was looking forward to doing the upgrade myself. I know I'm weird...
Watch.. just for giggles, the upgrades are released next week... just in time for labor day shopping.
O Love, you brought forth a
WyoMacMar 22, 05:41 PMGeez.... what did they do long ago... have a 400-disc CD changer in their trunk?
How did they manage?
:)
Some of us have been on the planet long enough to remember when 8-tracks came to cars that previously only had AM radios. How did we manage? Actually, we got along fined but bringing my own audio along with us just provides more options. Before the iPod, I would typically pick about 15-20 CD's to bring along with me on a road trip. I got along fine, but invariably I would wish that I had made a few different choices, never knowing what mood might strike me. So now I have an 80GB Classic that is about 95% full. Loaded on it are about 11,000 songs, 50-60 podcasts, a couple audiobooks, and maybe a movie or two. Every time the car leaves town, it goes with me. I take it to work every day and plug it into the sound system in my office. I plug it into an old boombox when I am working in the yard or on house projects. I don't need it to surf the web, play games, read email or anything else. It serves my wants perfectly, and though I am not about to claim that I am in the mainstream, I suspect that there are enough of us to keep a device like this profitable for Apple. I've toyed with the idea of selling this one and buying a 160GB but haven't yet. If Apple does choose to make a classic with high capacity, bluetooth, and airplay, I would buy it in a minute.
I love you with all my heart
KnightWRXApr 10, 06:31 PMOK, so apparently you don't have experience with automatics...
But yet you have an opinion on how superior your choice of manuals is.
Yes, obviously the thick sarcasm and the pointing out of P R N D 2 1 means I've never stepped in and driven an automatic ;) I was kidding about not knowing how to drive automatic if it still isn't clear.
Really, is there even someone who doesn't know how to drive an automatic ? It's pretty self-explanatory, not much of a learning curve shifting from Park to Drive and hitting the gas. Of course, if one were to put it in Neutral not much would happen and Reverse is a very bad thing if you're looking to go forward.
I think we have a winner for the "humor impaired post of 2011".
I feel that coupes should be manual and the rest autos, except for 2 door suvs (wrangler, D90). Just my opinion.
Coupes are just awkward. Give me a good hatchback or wagon anytime. The agility of a coupe, the interior room of a light SUV.
Subaru doesn't make coupes, that should tell you something. No need to sacrifice all that interior space to get a sporty feel. Heck, a WRX feels much sportier than a damn Hyundai Tiburon and is much more convenient to boot (god I miss that car... stupid TS wagon I'm stuck driving these days...).

Rodimus PrimeApr 11, 10:56 PMIt's interesting that Europeans embrace manuals, while Americans don't. Also, Europeans favor driving experience over comfort. Is this somehow related to gasoline prices?
more it used to be manuals would get much better gas mileage over automatics and gas prices there have always been a lot higher in then in the US. This pushed manuals to become very popular over there.
Now days there is no gain in mpg of going manual or automatic. Hell autos are starting to get better gas mileage than manuals because of computer controlled shifted and CVT. That combo is pretty much making the biggest reason why manuals took off there a non issue any more.
Also back to the gas milage thing. Small cars/ engines also suffered a lot of power going automatic as it took way to much power over head to run it so the cars were sluggest getting off the line and picking up speed. Again that is becoming less and less of an issue. In large cars there is no big power loss in going automatic and the engines have so much to spare that is a none issue.
So again with today automatic transmitions that take less power to run than old ones and engines that can produce more power it is less of an issue.
Those facts above is one huge reason why autos took off here in the states. Gas prices were a lot lower and our cars were larger and had bigger engines here in the states. WHich again was because gas prices were lower.
Manual trannies are going to be a dieing bread world wide as time goes on.
say I love you nowadays,
TmelonMar 30, 08:39 PMLaunchpad is now fixed.. Click and hold to move multiple apps (shakes like iPhone)
When launching expose dock doesn't crash any more...
Much snappier in performance
Has anyone noticed when shutting down the menu bar up top stays into the blue screen?
Also has anyone noticed that spot light doesn't show apps anymore?
So does the Launchpad have an easy way to remove icons yet?

Isn't our country about the right to have bad taste?
Is there a love burning so
VPrimeJan 5, 08:50 PMAvoid that BMW like the plague.
German + high miles = no way
Been there, done that, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Shame on me.
I'd rather take my chances with an old pile of an American car, because at least it will be cheaper to fix constantly.
Old BMWs are great if you like $1000 surprises. For the price you'll pay in repairs, you could have a car 2.5 times more expensive with a regular, planned, budgeted payment.
I am not to worried about that. I can do my own repairs, my last cars were major project cars. I have done pretty much everything (engine swaps, transmission swaps, etc.). Parts are not much more than I am used to, and since I won't be paying for labour does not really affect me.
Plus this guy seems like he really takes care of the car.
It depends on whether the car has received regular maintenance or not. There is no substitute for a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a competent BMW shop.
I am the original owner of my 330Ci and over the life of the car my average annual maintenance costs, excluding tires, have been $1300. The car is coming up on 9 years old and has a bit over 100k miles on it. I plan to keep the car for a good long while as I continue to enjoy owning and driving it.
The E46 forum on bimmerfest.com (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=98) is generally a good source of information. Review the wiki (http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index.php/BMW_E46) before asking questions. There aren't a whole lot of questions that haven't already been asked and answered many times and the wiki is intended to forestall those.
Thanks for the info.
the guy looks like he really took care of the car (based on his ad). The pictures make it seem mint, and he says all maintenance has been done regularly.
Obviously I will take a look in person and see how true it is.
I found the bimmerforums site a few days ago and have been searching quite a bit. Nothing I am finding seems out of the ordinary, or something I haven't seen yet.
Still trying to make an appointment with the guy and see it in person though.
Isle love you .

FisseApr 2, 10:52 PMRunning an ad for a product they don't have in stock in their own stores?
CmdrLaForgeSep 1, 01:33 PMThat would be really great. Even so my 20" would look small then
kiljoy616Mar 24, 09:54 PMi also prefer intel over amd but i think the cheaper models may run on amd in some time
Also considering that they have built in video for the laptops I can't see Apple going of Intel any time. :)
MacPhilosopherSep 14, 12:01 PMMy reception experience has been significantly better since upgrading to the 4. I've dropped fewer than 5 calls in a month in my home in which I normally drop every call I am on longer than a minute. I have reception in my workplace that I refer to as the cell phone vortex. Once in the door I usually drop all bars, but now I can get reception deep in the building.
M-LifeAug 6, 10:41 PMHappy WWDC Eve everyone! May tomorrow bring you everything you wanted! ;) :D

I saw SJ at the mall a few weeks back and he let me sit on his lap and everything. I asked for a new mac mini media center and a football and he said he could get me one or the other, but not both.
